The cleanest plan uses the cool morning for Chennakeshava Temple, pauses in Belur for food and then decides whether Yagachi is offering activities or only a landscape stop. It leaves both places enough time to remain themselves.
What the evidence supports
Karnataka Tourism places Yagachi about three to four kilometres from Belur and identifies Halebidu as a separate onward trip. The short distance does not mean the reservoir and temple share access, rules or opening times.
Names, dates and access conditions do different jobs. This account keeps documented history separate from local tradition and does not use a photograph as proof that an activity, entrance or facility operates today.

Start at the temple after confirming darshan, eat in town, then retain an auto or car for Yagachi. Leave the reservoir with daylight. Add Halebidu only if the temple receives its own substantial visit rather than a rushed final photograph.
Allow the subject of Belur and Yagachi to set the pace. Keep nearby temples, businesses, water and private land separate unless the current custodian or operator explicitly connects them.
