Davanagere district calls Santhebennur Pushkarini a highly artistic pond measuring about 90 metres across, with a Vasantha Mantapa at the centre. Local people call it the Honda.
More than one monument
The neighbouring Musafirkhana is a fine granite mosque. Seeing both avoids turning a layered settlement into a single picturesque water pavilion.
Fragile edges
The steps and masonry are historic fabric, not seating or climbing equipment. Visit in daylight, keep children away from open water and do not climb the pavilion or walls.
