The Hoysaleswara Temple at Halebidu is the twin-shrined Shiva temple of the old Hoysala capital, then called Dwarasamudra. Begun around 1121 CE, it was never fully completed, yet its carving is among the richest anywhere in India.

Two linked shrines, each fronted by a large monolithic Nandi pavilion, sit on a star-shaped platform whose walls run in continuous horizontal bands of elephants, lions, horsemen, epic scenes and deities. It too is part of the UNESCO "Sacred Ensembles of the Hoysalas".
