Overview

The queen's temple, immediately south of the main shrine and built at the same time as it: Shantala Devi, Vishnuvardhana's queen, paid for it, and the inscriptions of that century call THIS one Chennakesava and the big one Vijayanarayana — the two names have since traded places. It measures 124 ft by 105 ft and holds two sanctums, one for Venugopala and one for Chennigaraya. The name comes from a kappe, a frog, said to have been found at the image's navel. 234 m on foot from the main steps.
