The Mylara (Mailara) Lingeshwara Temple, at Mylara village in Hoovina Hadagali taluk, is a major Shaiva shrine especially revered by the Kuruba community, dedicated to Mailara/Khandoba, a martial form of Shiva.
It is famous for the Karanika, the climax of the annual Mailara fair, when an oracle-priest (the Gorava) balances on a taut, upturned bow and utters a cryptic prophecy for the year ahead before a huge crowd. Outside the fair it is a quiet village temple.
