“Meenmutty Waterfalls, Wayanad” is not enough for navigation. This page belongs to the Banasura-side waterfall at Kappikkalam near Padinjarathara, five kilometres from Banasura Sagar Dam. The famous Meppadi–Ooty-road waterfall and Makkiyad Meenmutty farther north are separate destinations.
Use the landscape words as identifiers
Banasura, Kappikkalam and Padinjarathara all point to this site. DTPC explicitly warns readers not to confuse it with Meppadi Meenmutty. The Forest Department then lists Makkiyad separately, removing any excuse to merge the northern waterfall into this one.
Navigate to arrival, not danger
The useful map object is OSM node 3883233313, named Meenmutty Water Falls - Parking. It reverse-geocodes to Kappikkalam and sits about 270 metres from mapped Banasuramala waterfall markers. A pin on the lip or upper tier would be less useful and could imply unsafe independent access.
Keep the borrowed facts out
The widely repeated 300 metres, 1,000 feet and “second largest in Kerala” description belongs to the Meppadi waterfall in Kerala Tourism’s own material. It cannot be used to make Kappikkalam sound larger. This site has enough identity in its staged rock route and view towards Banasura Sagar.
