Amritapuri, the headquarters ashram of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math on the Vallikavu backwater strip north-west of Karunagappally town, takes visitors and runs its own accommodation office. The ashram's own site says couples are given private rooms where possible while single men and single women are housed in simple dormitories with mattresses on the floor and an attached bathroom, and that plain Indian ashram meals are included with the stay, with non-spicy Western food also available.
