Highlights
- Hogenakkal Falls — A series of waterfalls where the Kaveri drops over carbonatite rock, often called the 'Niagara of India'. Famous for coracle (parisal) rides, oil massages and fresh river fish on the Pennagaram-side access.
- Melagiri Hills — A forested hill range and protected elephant corridor that straddles the Dharmapuri-Krishnagiri-Karnataka borders; the Dharmapuri-side reserve forest is known for wildlife and trekking.
- Hanuman Theertham — Hanuman Theertham is a spring-fed pilgrimage spot on the banks of the South Pennar (Thenpennai) River with roots in the Ramayana. Local belief holds that Lord Hanuman poured out a vessel of holy Ganga water here, while the nearby Rama Theertham waterfall is said to have formed where Rama's arrow struck the rock. A spring continues to flow from the rock even when the river runs dry, and pilgrims take a ritual dip at both Hanuman Theertha and Rama Theertha.
