Highlights
- Hanuman Thirtham, Uthangarai — This sacred spot on the bank of the Pennaiyar (Thenpennai) river, about 10 km from Uthangarai, is tied to the legend of Hanuman, who was said to have been sent by Rama to fetch water from the Ganges. Pilgrims gather here especially during July-August for ritual bathing and worship. The riverside setting makes it both a devotional and a scenic destination. Small shrines and bathing ghats mark the site along the river.
