Perambalur Buddhas (Ogalur/Paravai)

A Shiva temple on the banks of the Vellar river, counted among the seven sacred 'thurai' where the Sapta Rishis are traditionally said to have worshipped Shiva. It is a medieval Chola-period foundation and remains an active riverside pilgrimage temple in the district.

A seasonal waterfall in the Pachaimalai foothills about 15 km from Perambalur, reached by a short forest trek. Its Tamil name means 'peacock spring', after the peacock-like shape of the rock over which the water falls. It flows strongest during and just after the north-east monsoon and is prized as an uncommercialised, wild spot for trekking and bathing.
