Jotheeswarar (Aamravaneswarar) Temple, Thirumanthurai

A set of roughly 11th-century Buddhist images, including large seated Buddha statues, found across villages such as Paravai, Ogalur and Perumathur. They are important evidence that Buddhism during the Chola period extended beyond major centres like Kanchipuram and Madurai into smaller towns. Some of the images are kept in a village shrine and a purpose-built meditation centre.
