The 58th of the 108 Divya Desams, dedicated to Vishnu worshipped here as Bhaktavatsala Perumal, the lover of devotees, with his consort known as Ennai Petra Thayar. The temple is attributed to the Pallavas of the late 8th century. It is built in classic Dravidian style with a five-tiered rajagopuram and a granite sanctum.
