Sarada Mandiram was built as the residence of A.R. Rajaraja Varma Valiya Koyithampuran, the grammarian and poet known as Kerala Panini. The Alappuzha district administration records that the State Government bought the house and keeps it as his memorial, and it is the one Mavelikkara site listed among the district's official places of interest.
