St Mary's Orthodox Cathedral, Puthiyakavu

Overview

Puthiyakavu St Mary's is the cathedral church of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church's Diocese of Mavelikara, whose own parish directory gives its address as Puthyacavu, Mavelikara 690101. The church is remembered for the Mavelikara Synod of 1836, at which the Malankara Church rejected the Church Missionary Society's proposals and ended two decades of collaboration with it.
