A Shiva temple on the Kosasthalaiyar river with Pallava origins and a masonry structure from around 876 CE under Aparajitavarman, carrying 51 inscriptions and revered as a Paadal Petra Sthalam. Takkolam is also the site of the decisive Battle of Takkolam (c. 949 CE).
