Keeladi (Keezhadi) Heritage Museum

An old Kali temple in Madapuram village on the banks of the Vaigai near Thiruppuvanam, revered as one of the guardian deities (kaval deivam) of the Madurai Pandya kings. The fierce goddess Bhadrakali stands about 12 feet tall in an open sanctum without a roof, sheltered beneath a roughly 30-foot horse figure. Popularly known as the shrine of the 'Goddess of Justice', it draws devotees seeking fair resolution of disputes.

A Gothic-style Catholic church at Idaikattur, built in 1894 by the French Jesuit missionary Fr. Ferdinand Celle and modelled on the Rheims Cathedral of France. Its interior features gothic arches, terracotta ornamentation, over 200 decorative moulded tiles and a 45-foot altar facade, with statues imported from France. It is now venerated as the Sacred Heart Shrine and is a landmark of Christian heritage architecture in the district.

An ancient Shiva temple (Kotravaleeswarar / Rajakhadga Paramesvara) at Koviloor near Karaikudi, built in the Dravidian style and associated with Pandya-era patronage. Adjoining it is the Koviloor Aadheenam, a nearly 200-year-old Saiva mutt founded by Sri Muthuramalinga Gnana Desikar, the Andavar of Koviloor. The Aadheenam is noted as an early centre of systematic Vedanta study in Tamil, publishing Tamil versions of major Vedantic texts.

A mid-18th-century goddess temple in Nattarasankottai, about 9 km from Sivaganga, dedicated to Kannudaya Nayaki Amman, locally called Kannathal. The deity is believed to cure eye ailments and grant good eyesight to devotees. Nattarasankottai is traditionally held to be the first settlement of the Nagarathar (Chettiar) community after they moved south from the Chola country.

A goddess temple at Thayamangalam, about 25 km from Sivaganga, built in 1914 and dedicated to Muthumariamman. The presiding deity is revered by local devotees as a village mother goddess who resolves their difficulties. It is listed among the district's notable spiritual places.

One of the most important temples of Singampunari, dedicated to the village guardian deity Ayyanar, worshipped here as Sevuga Perumal. The temple is set amid a grove and its sacred tree is the bael (vilwa). Its ten-day Brahmotsavam festival draws large crowds from the surrounding area.

This ancient Vishnu temple near Tirupathur is one of the 108 Divya Desams glorified in the Naalayira Divya Prabandham of the Alvars. It is famed as the place where the Vaishnava acharya Ramanuja proclaimed the sacred Ashtakshara mantra 'Om Namo Narayanaya' to all people from the temple tower, defying his teacher's instruction to keep it secret. Its landmark Ashtanga Vimana rises even taller than the five-tiered rajagopuram and enshrines the deity in three postures across its levels.

A fortified living Shiva temple linked to Sivaganga and the Maruthu brothers.

A large Shiva temple set on the fortified Piranmalai hill (over 2,000 ft), the last outcrop of the Eastern Ghats in Tirupathur taluk. Regarded as the fifth of the Tevaram-praised Shiva sthalams of the Pandya region, the roughly 30-acre complex has three prakarams, five vimanams and a tall rajagopuram, with shrines representing Bhumi, Antariksham and Swargam. The hilltop also holds a Bhairavar shrine, the Pandava Theerthams and the dargah of Waliullah Sheikh Abdullah, making it sacred to both Hindus and Muslims.

A Shiva temple at Pattamangalam noted as a Gurusthalam associated with Dakshinamurthy, the aspect of Shiva as the supreme teacher. It is listed among Sivaganga district's spiritual places of pilgrimage. Devotees visit it for blessings related to learning and wisdom.

A Vishnu temple at Ariyakudi popularly called 'Then Tirupati' (Tirupati of the South), an important pilgrimage stop in the Chettinad region.
