The Sarangapani Temple is one of the largest Vishnu temples in the Cauvery delta and a revered Divya Desam — one of the 108 Vishnu shrines celebrated by the Alvar poet-saints. Its tall, tiered gopuram is a landmark over central Kumbakonam.
