Venni Karumbeswarar Temple, Koil Venni

A Paadal Petra Sthalam Shiva temple at the site of the Sangam-age Battle of Venni, where the Chola king Karikala defeated a Chera-Pandya confederacy around the 2nd century CE. The village was home to the Sangam poet Vennikkuyathiyar, who sang of that battle. The temple is popularly visited as a 'diabetes temple' where devotees pray for relief from blood-sugar ailments.
