Highlights
- Muthupet Dargah — The dargah of Andavar Sheikh Dawood Khamil Oliyullah is one of the oldest Muslim shrines in the region, believed to be several centuries old. Built in a traditional style, it has five minarets, the tallest reputedly added by the Thanjavur Maratha ruler Pratap Singh in the 18th century. It is an interfaith pilgrimage site visited by people of all communities.
- Veera Kothandaramar Temple, Thillaivilagam — An ancient temple dedicated to Rama, counted among the Pancha Rama Kshetrams and the 108 Abhimana Kshetrams of Vaishnavism. It is distinctive as one of the few Rama temples where the presiding deity holds an arrow inscribed as 'Rama Saram'. Legend holds that Rama rested here at the ashram of sage Bharadwaja on his return journey to Ayodhya.
