One of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, a Shiva temple on the banks of the Kaveri roughly 24 km from Trichy toward Thanjavur. Shiva is worshipped here as Nedungalanathar (Nithya Sundareswarar). The sanctum is unusual in having two vimanas, reflecting the legend that Shiva gave the left half of his body to the goddess Umayaval.
