Highlights
- Thirunarungondai Jain Caves (Appandainathar) — One of the oldest Tamil Jain sites, on a hillock near Kalamarudhur between Ulundurpet and Thirukovilur, where the deity Appandainathar is carved into rock inside a cave that served as a Virasangha monastery in the 8th-9th century CE. The hillock also holds shrines to Parsvanatha and Chandraprabha, and a large Jain festival is held each January-February.
