Highlights
- Kanchanagiri Hills — A hill of about 1,500 feet near Ranipet, popular for its views and its small Shiva and Murugan shrines, including the Jothi Linkeshwarar temple. It is known for a resonant natural 'bell rock' and a scatter of small svayambhu lingams, and is a favourite short pilgrimage and biking destination from Chennai.
- Walajapet — One of the oldest trading towns of the old North Arcot region, long a centre of silk weaving and nicknamed the 'Silk City'. It sits opposite Arcot across the Palar and is a commercial hub of the district.
