PlacePiranmalai Kodunkundranathar TempleA large Shiva temple set on the fortified Piranmalai hill (over 2,000 ft), the last outcrop of the Eastern Ghats in Tirupathur taluk. Regarded as the fifth of the Tevaram-praised Shiva sthalams of the Pandya region, the roughly 30-acre complex has three prakarams, five vimanams and a tall rajagopuram, with shrines representing Bhumi, Antariksham and Swargam. The hilltop also holds a Bhairavar shrine, the Pandava Theerthams and the dargah of Waliullah Sheikh Abdullah, making it sacred to both Hindus and Muslims.
