Vembanad Lake
Waterfront · Kumbalangi
History & overview
Vembanad is the largest lake in Kerala, the vast backwater that stretches south from Kochi towards Alleppey and Kumarakom. At Kumbalangi its canals and mangroves frame India’s first model fishing village — a quiet place for a country-canoe trip, Chinese-net fishing and a seafood lunch, far calmer than the Alleppey houseboat routes.
