The story

At Thumboormuzhi, a river-control structure, a planted garden and a pedestrian bridge turn one stop into several different ways of looking at the Chalakudy River.

The story of Thumboormuzhi Dam

Kerala Tourism describes the dam, butterfly garden, children’s park and hanging bridge as parts of the Thumboormuzhi visit. The bridge connects the Thrissur bank with Ezhattumukham-Prakriti Gramam on the Ernakulam side. The district boundary runs through a landscape that looks continuous from the bridge.

The river view is only one layer of the stop. The garden rewards a slower look at plants and butterflies, while the bridge gives a broader view of the channel and its wooded banks. Water levels change the appearance of the exposed rock and river channels, so photographs from another season may show a very different scene.

Why visit

Allow separate time for the planted paths and the river viewpoint. Confirm whether the bridge and opposite-bank facilities are operating before building a circular walk around them. Keep to managed visitor areas; visible river rocks should not be treated as an extension of the garden path.

Book with the place itself. India’s cyber-crime coordination centre warned in April 2025 that convincing copies of hotel and pilgrimage booking sites are being pushed through sponsored search and social ads, taking payment for rooms the property never hears about. Use the contact and source details on each profile to confirm the exact business and booking channel. A directory entry or map pin alone does not establish an operator’s identity or current availability. Roampedia takes no commission and does not collect booking payments. If a booking page reached you through an ad, check the address bar against the property’s own site before you pay. Fraud can be reported on cybercrime.gov.in or on 1930.
