Bhoothathankettu
Attraction · Thattekkad & Bhoothathankettu

History & overview
Bhoothathankettu is a reservoir and barrage on the Periyar near Thattekkad, ringed by reserve forest. The draw is a boat ride up the river from the DTPC jetty, plus forest walks and a small children’s park by the dam. The name — roughly “the demon’s dam” — comes from a local legend about boulders that block the river here.
