A hilltop Jacobite Syrian pilgrim centre (dayara) near Pathanamthitta, the resting place of Patriarch Ignatius Elias III; its annual perunnal draws large crowds.

Check entry arrangements. Ask the church about visiting times around services and any dress or photography rules. During worship, keep voices low and follow staff directions.
Dress respectfully and follow the institution’s admission and photography rules.
Manjinikkara’s hill is a pilgrimage destination because of the patriarch laid to rest there.
Kerala Tourism records the death of Mar Ignatius in February 1932 and his burial at Manjinikkara. The annual commemoration on 13 February draws pilgrims, including people arriving on foot. That history gives the church and dayara a significance beyond their appearance in photographs.
Choose whether you want a quiet visit or to join the pilgrimage observance, then check the current church programme. The approaches and available parking can feel very different during the feast. Leave entrances and processional routes clear, and ask before photographing worshippers.

Book with the place itself. India’s cyber-crime coordination centre warned in April 2025 that convincing copies of hotel and pilgrimage booking sites are being pushed through sponsored search and social ads, taking payment for rooms the property never hears about. Use the contact and source details on each profile to confirm the exact business and booking channel. A directory entry or map pin alone does not establish an operator’s identity or current availability. Roampedia takes no commission and does not collect booking payments. If a booking page reached you through an ad, check the address bar against the property’s own site before you pay. Fraud can be reported on cybercrime.gov.in or on 1930.
