History & overview
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral is the seat (cathedral church) of the Latin Catholic Diocese of Alleppey, located at Convent Square, Alappuzha. The present structure, rebuilt in 1999, is in a Gothic-influenced style with pointed spires and detailed stonework, and its interior features a carved main altar, a statue of Mother Mary with the infant Jesus, ceramic tiling and old paintings including the Last Supper.
